HLUHLUWE / UMFOLOZI GAME RESERVE Set in the heart of Zululand, this is the oldest game reserve in Africa, home to the Big Five Established in 1895. Viewing hides overlook waterholes enabling visitors to see animals at close range.
As the home of Operation Rhino in the 1950s and 60s, the Park became world renowned for its white rhino conservation. We will spend the day doing some great game viewing with a picnic lunch at one of the picnic spots in the camp.
SAFARI HLUHLUWE / UMFOLOZI GAME RESERVE Go on a Safari - breathe in the sounds and the smell of the bush for a day, while viewing the animals from an open safari vehicle. Get up close to nature. Picnic lunch provided.
HLUHLUWE / ST LUCIA COMBO Enjoy a 3 hour game drive on a Safari Vehicle in Hluhluwe game reserve, then drive to St Lucia in the Isimangaliso Wetlands, a World Heritage Site, for a 2 hour boat trip down the world’s largest Estuary viewing some of the world’s largest crocodiles and hippos.
SHAKALAND (Zulu Cultural Village) and Dlinza Forest A visit to Shakaland where the tales of ancient lore and legend will keep you enthralled, Meet a Zulu Chief, see the sangoma throw the bones, see zulu basket weaving, leather work, beer making and pottery. A spectacular dance show will keep you spellbound for forty minutes.
The Zulu dancers will then sing you down to "Shisa Nyama" restaurant to feast on traditional foods. After lunch we will visit Fort Nongqayi, the Dlinza Forest Aerial Boardwalk and other places of interest in the charming old town of Eshowe, which is the oldest town in Zululand.
THE GREATER ST LUCIA WETLANDS Feel the spirit of Africa. This is a wonderful day trip. Visit the vibrant, tropical, colourful town of St Lucia, where we take a two hour cruise down the St Lucia Estuary to see some of the largest Hippos and Crocs in the world. We also visit a Zulu craft village.
EMAKHOSINI - ONDINI - OPATHE GAME RESERVE Scenic drive through the Nkwaleni Valley and up the mountains to Melmoth, then on to the “Emakhosini Valley” the legendary Valley of Kings. Next Ulundi, where a memorial marks the last battle of the Anglo Zulu War. We visit the site of the Ondini KwaZulu Cultural museum, also the reconstructed Cethswayos royal residence. After lunch the Opathe Game Reserve.
